Artwood Outdoor Furniture Care & Maintenance

Caring for Teak

Teak is a wood which has particularly good properties for production of furniture and interior fittings. It is hard, heavy, elastic and contains oils which gives it great resistance to moisture. Artwood teak is treated in 3 steps with lacquer to obtain a weathered worn grey colour. The treatments / lacquer will gradually fade over time after continued exposure to sunlight and water. Splits, cracking and slight movement should be expected as timber is a natural product.

Care: Artwood recommend the use of GoldenCare Teak Shield care product. Teak Shield is an almost invisible wood protector.

No maintenance is required for the first three months. After three months please follow the below care steps:

  1. Clean the surface of the furniture with a damp soft cloth.
  2. Apply the Teak Shield to your table using a soft cloth.
  3. Wait until dry then the furniture is ready to use again.
  4. Repeat this process every 3 months.

Failure to care for your teak products may void Artwood's warranty.

Outdoor Wicker
Maintenance free furniture woven by hand in all weather wicker (polyethylene), on a rustproof aluminium frame. Recommended for both indoor and outdoor use, however not in freezing temperatures.
Care: Artwood recommend regular washing with water and a soft scrubbing brush to remove dirt, dust and salt build up.

Cushions – Outdoor
Outdoor cushions are produced with quick dry foam and 100% solution dyed acrylic fabric. Cushions should not be left out in humid or wet conditions for prolonged periods of time. Any time cushions are exposed to wet conditions, they need to be dried thoroughly. Sitting the cushions zip down down will help them to drain if required. Over winter months Artwood recommend storing cushions inside or under cover, as failure to dry thoroughly may result in mould or mildew.
Care: All covers are removable and washable, however, dry cleaning is recommended for all fabrics. Replacement cushions or covers are available to purchase in the event of damage.

Artwood Outdoor Metal Framing

All Artwood metal frames have been galvanised and then powder coated in matt black.

Care: If the frame gets dirty or dusty simply wipe with a soft damp cloth. For very dirty framing Artwood recommend Golden Care Powder Coated Cleaner.

Powder Coated Aluminium
Artwood powder coated aluminium ranges include Anson and Estepona. These products are constructed of aluminium, then powder coasted for protection. They require very little maintenance and can be cleaned with a damp cloth as required. If you scratch the finish you will need to reseal it with a protector to restore the colour.
